WEAR THE MĀORI SOVEREIGNTY FLAG
TINO RANGATIRATANGA
Inspired by the Māori sovereignty flag. Worn as a daily protest
The original Tino Rangatiratanga flag was designed in 1990 by Hiraina Marsden, Jan Dobson, and Linda Munn — a bold symbol of Māori self-determination, unity, and mana motuhake.
Each element in the flag holds deep meaning:
Red represents Papatuānuku (earth mother)
Black represents Te Kore (the void, potential)
White represents Te Ao Mārama (the world of light and being)
And the koru at the centre symbolises new life, growth, and movement forward.
Our pendant is an inspired interpretation of this kaupapa —
featuring the koru in a modern Lil Bos design to honour the message of the original flag while creating something wearable for every day.
