Taonga Design Competition – Terms & Conditions
1. Organiser
The Taonga Design Competition is organised by Lil Baby Old School Ltd (“Lil BOS”).
2. Eligibility

Open to children and young people under the age of 18 who reside in New Zealand.

Entrants under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Employees and immediate family members of Lil BOS may not enter.
3. Competition Theme
Your taonga design must be inspired by the whakataukī:
“Titiro whakamuri, whakarite ināianei, hei hāngai whakamua.”
“Embrace the past. Prepare now to shape the future.”
Designs should reflect your own culture, identity, heritage, ancestry, or personal story.
4. Original Artwork Requirement
All entries must be completely original.
Your design must:

Be hand drawn on paper by the entrant.

Be your own original creation.

Be suitable to realistically be made into a pendant or piece of jewellery.
The following are NOT permitted:

AI-generated artwork.
-
AI-assisted artwork.
-
Digital artwork created on phones, tablets or computers.
-
Traced artwork.
-
Copied or heavily inspired artwork from another artist.
-
Copyrighted characters, logos or images.
-
Artwork created by another person.
Lil BOS reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is believed to breach these requirements.
5. How to Enter
Email your entry to:
Include:

A clear photo or scan of your hand-drawn design.

A written story explaining your inspiration and what your design represents.

A photo of you holding your artwork.
-
Your name.
-
Your age.
-
Where you are from.
-
A short introduction about yourself.
6. Judging
Entries will be judged on:
-
Creativity.
-
Originality.
-
Connection to the competition theme.
-
Cultural meaning and storytelling.
-
Suitability to be manufactured into jewellery.
Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
7. Prizes
Three winners will be selected.

Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
8. Intellectual Property
Entrants retain ownership of their original artwork.
By entering, entrants grant Lil BOS permission to:

Display submitted artwork.
-
Share entries on Lil BOS social media, website and promotional material.

Announce finalists and winners.
If Lil BOS wishes to commercially manufacture or sell a winning design beyond the competition prize, this will only occur with the agreement of the entrant and their parent or legal guardian.
9. Competition Closing Date
Entries close at 11:59 pm (NZST) on 17 August 2026.
Late entries will not be accepted.
10. Privacy
Personal information will only be used to administer the competition, contact entrants, announce winners, and deliver prizes. Information will not be sold or shared with third parties except where required by law.
11. Right to Amend
Lil BOS reserves the right to amend, suspend, cancel or modify the competition or these Terms & Conditions if necessary due to unforeseen circumstances.
12. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an entry, both the entrant and their parent or legal guardian acknowledge that they have read, understood and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
